Height of tower x  =  D tan (30)   where D is the distance to the tower from the midway point

Height of tower y  = D tan(60)

So.... x : y     =   D tn (30)  / D tan(60)   =  tan (30) / tan (60)  =   [ 1 / sqrt (3)]  / sqrt (3)  =

1 / [ sqrt(3) (sqrt (3)]  = 1/3

cool cool cool
