Jim is watching a rugby game on t.v at home. jim's brotheris at the game, standing at the end of the field. Jim has been told that he will hear the rugby ball being kicked on t.v before his brother hears it at the end of the field. the length of the field is about 100 m. it takes 0.28 seconds for sound to travel the length of a field. In contrast, a t.v signal travels 1 kilometre in about 0.0000005398 secounds. the t.v signal has to travel to the transmitter then to jim's house. The distance to the transmitter is 150 kilometres then 150 kilometres to jim's house. how many seconds ahead of his brother does jim hear the ball being kicked?
