A water tower is located 200 feet from a building. From a window in the building, it is observed that the angle of elevation to the top of the tower is 45 degrees and the angle of depression to the bottom of the tower is 35 degrees.Approximately how far is the window from the bottom of the water tower?

We have .....

cos(35)  = 200 / d     where d is the distance from the window to the bottom of the tower

Rearranging, we have

d = 200/cos(35)   = about 244.15 ft
