You probably mean how many do you have to pull out to be sure of haveing 2 the same colour

Well if you pull out 3 and you have not got 2 the same colour yet then the next one will have to be the same as one you already have.  so the answer is  4

This is known as the "Pigeonhole" principle.....Melody is correct......if we pull out all different ones on the first three tries, we must have a matching pair after the fourth  one is selected.....!!!!
