This is identical as my last question but i missed one thing.

Ana, Beatriz and Celia are 3 kids they say 3 statements ONLY one of these statements are true.

Beatriz is the oldest     Ana is not the oldest     Celia is not the youngest

Put the 3 kids in order from oldest to youngest! laugh

if you say celia's statement is true this mean she can not be last

Next we have Ana, if her statement is false this means that she has to be the oldest so she is first

then we come to Beatriz if her statement is false this mean she has to be the youngest so she is last

The order follows as ACB, I think this does not break any rules. So i think this is the correct order Correct me if i'm wrong!

Ana, Beatriz and Celia are 3 kids they say 3 statements ONLY one of these statements are true.

Beatriz is the oldest     Ana is not the oldest     Celia is not the youngest

Put the 3 kids in order from oldest to youngest!

Lets look at each one.

Say Beariz is the oldest it true.

Then Ana is not the oldest is also true but only one statement can be true SO

Beatriz is NOT the oldest

Say Ana is NOT the oldest is true.

We know that Beatriz is not the oldest,  If neither of those 2 are the oldest then Celia must be the oldest.

BUT this would mean that statement 2 and statement 3 are both true and that is not allowed.

Therefore Ana is the oldest

Edits are in red

Say Celia is not the youngest. then Ana is the oldest and Beatriz must be the youngest

Ana is oldest, then Celia , and the youngest is Beatriz

Agree with Anon4338 and have made changes to reflect that answer !

OK.....if only ONE is true, the other two must be FALSE.

Let's call them 1   2   3

If 1  then NOT 2  and NOT 3  won't work because it would mean B and A ae BOTH the oldest.

If  2  Then NOT 1  and NOT 3    won't work because IF ana is not the oldest she is either middle or youngest, NOT3 says Celia is youngest so Ana would be middle BUT that would make NOT 1   untrue

If 3 is t true then  NOT 1 and NOT 2       would not work      as  A C B       Ana is the oldest=NOT2  Celia IS  NOT the youngest=3 which leaves one position for B which is OK because NOT1= Beatrice is NOT the oldest

ACB is the answer.

Melody:

I'm looking at your answer and I'm not sure if it's right.

You said that...

Ana is oldest, then Beatriz, and the youngest is Celia

This contradicts all three statements that buubleman provided.

In your statement,

Beatriz is NOT oldest...

Ana IS oldest...

and Celia IS the youngest.

However, if I'm correct, Statement 3: Celia is not the youngest, is true, then that would mean Ana not being oldest would be false and Beatriz being oldest has to be false.

To do that, you could have Ana being oldest, Celia in the middle, and Beatriz youngest.

Is Ana oldest, Celia next, and Beatriz youngest correct, Buubleman?

Here's my take on this one:

1. Beatriz is the oldest        2.  Ana is not the oldest        3. Celia is not the youngest

Let's assume that 1 is true.........   then 2 is false........but this is impossible because Beatriz and Ana would both be the oldest - a contradiction......so  T F F  isn't a possibiity

Let's assume 2 is true.........then Ana could be the second oldest or the youngest. Assume that she is the second oldest.......so 3 is false and Celia is the youngest.......but 1 is also false.......which means that Beatriz could be the second youngest [ violating our assumption]........or the youngest - also impossible because we know that 3 is false  and Celia is the youngest

And Ana can't be the youngest if we assume 2 is true, because 3 is false......Celia is the youngest in this scenario.......

So F T F  isn't possible, either

This leaves FFT  as the only possibility.......assume that Celia is the oldest.....then, since 2 is false, Ana would also have to be the oldest........and this is a contradiction

Assume Celia is the second oldest........then, since 2 is false, Ana is the oldest.......and since 1 is also false, Beatriz would be the youngest in this scenario

Thus

FFT   is the only possibility and the correct order  is  A - C - B

cool cool cool
