$$\underset{\,\,\,\,^{\textcolor[rgb]{0.66,0.66,0.66}{360^\circ}}}{{cos}}{\left({\mathtt{48}}^\circ\right)}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{13}} = {\mathtt{8.698\: \!697\: \!882\: \!667}}$$

$$\underset{\,\,\,\,^{\textcolor[rgb]{0.66,0.66,0.66}{360^\circ}}}{{cos}}{\left({\mathtt{48}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{13}}\right)} = -{\mathtt{0.104\: \!528\: \!463\: \!268}}$$

Make sure your calculator is in "degree" mode......then, just evaluate

13*cos(48)    .....you should get the correct answer......
