I'm assuming this might be....

(x-2)/4 + 12/x = x/2   ????

Multiply though by 4 and we have

x - 2 + 48/x  = 2x

Multiply through by x

x^2 - 2x + 48  = 2x^2

Rearranging, we have

x^2 + 2x - 48 = 0

Factoring produces

(x + 8) (x - 6) = 0

Set each factor to 0, and we have that.....  x = 6  and x = -8

I'll leave it for you to check that both solutions "work".....
