To find the inverse, follow these steps:

Step 1:  Interchange x and g(x)   --->  x  =  (1/2)g(x) + 8

Step 2:  Solve for g(x)   --->            x - 8  =  (1/2)g(x)

2x - 16  =  g(x)

Step 3:  Replace f(x) with g-1(x)   --->   g-1(x)  =  2x - 16
