What is the length of  side BC of the triangle?

I think it could be 3, but I'm not sure.

Since  m∠B  =  m∠C  ,  triangle  ABC  is isosceles and

 

the length of side AC  =  the length of side AB

 

x + 8   =   2x - 1         Now we can find what  x  is.

                                  Subtract  x  from both sides of the equation.

8  =  x - 1

                                  Add  1  to both sides.

9  =  x

 

And..

 

the length of side  BC  =  3x - 3

                                                          Now we know that  x = 9

the length of side  BC  =  3(9) - 3

 

the length of side  BC  =  24
