2 * pi * (diameter / 2)^2  +  2 * pi * (diameter / 2) *  height     ......so we have...

 

2 * pi * ( 8/2)^2  +  2 * pi * (8 / 2) * 16  =

 

2 * pi * (4)^2  + 2 * pi * (4) (16)  =

 

2 * pi  [ 4^2  +  4 * 16]

 

2 *pi  (16  +  64)  =

 

2 pi ( 80) =

 

160 pi mm ^2     ≈  502.65 mm^2
