50%  of  937  =  .50 * 937  = $468.50

 

 

2) The Brown family's dinner bill was 75.89 and they left 10.00 as a tip. What percent was the tip?

 

Assuming that 75.89 was the total bill.....the percent of the tip is given  by :

 

10.00 / 75.89  ≈ 13.2 %

 

As for the third question....I don't know.....!!!

Although I am not a financial expert, I believe that I have somehow heard about such advice before, so I would say that #3 is true.
