In the diagram below, angle BAC = 24 degrees and AB = AC.

If angle ABC = y degrees, what is the value of y?

Since angle BAC = 24 degrees and AB = AC, then:

 

180 - 24 =156 The sum of the other 2 angles.

Since angle ABC = angle ACB, then:

y = 156/2 =78 degrees.
