Why is 8^x=2 simplified to 1/3

8^x = 2 take the log of both sides

x log(8) = log(2)

x =log(2) / log(8)

x = 1/3

8^x = 2    and we can write

(2 ^3)^x  = 2^1

2^(3x) =  2^1       now.......equate exponents

3x =   1          divide both sides by 3

x = 1/3

cool cool cool
