how do you find the area of a non right angled triangle?

Multiply the length of the base by the height of the triangle, then divide the result by 2.

 

For example: 

 

  /  \     h = 4

/___\   

   3

 

b = 3

h = 4

 

The area of this triangle is (3*4)/2, or 6.
