How do you solve these using elimination?

1,000,000 - 25,000x = y

and

600,000 + 10,000x = y

How do you solve these using elimination?

1,000,000 - 25,000x = y

and

600,000 + 10,000x = y

\(1,000,000 - 25,000x = y \)

\(\underline{600,000 \ + 10,000x = y}\)     subtract

.   \(400,000-35,000x=0\)

\(-35,000x=-400,000\)          divide

\(x=11\frac{3}{7}\)

or

\(600,000 + 10,000x = 1,000,000 - 25,000x \)

\(10,000x+25,000x=1,000,000-600,000\)

\(35,000x=400,000\)

\(7x=80\)

\(x=11\frac{3}{7}\)

\(y=600,000 + 10,000x\)

\(y=600,000 + 10,000\times\frac{80}{7}\)

\(y=600,000 + 114,285.7\overline{142857}...\)

\(y= 714,285.7\overline{142857}...\)

laugh !
