Divide both sides of the equation by  4 * 104 .

$$\frac{1*10^{12}}{4*10^4}$$  =  n

Reduce the fraction by  104 .

$$\frac{1*10^{8}}{4}$$  =  n

$$\frac{10^{8}}{4}$$  =  n

$$\frac{1}{4}$$ * 108  =  n

0.25 * 108  =  n
