How to find horizontal length when given the angle of depression and height?

The angle of depression equals the angle of elevation because they are alternate angles on parallel lines.

The height is opposite the angle of elevation.  the horizontal length is adjacent.

You have the opposite, you want the adjacent so you would use     $$tan\theta=\frac{opp}{adj}$$
