x + 3/12  =  7/6 + (x + 6)/4

Simpliby 3/12 to 1/4:

x + 1/4  =  7/6 + (x + 6)/4

Multiply both sides by 12, the lowest common denominator:

12[x + 1/4]  =  12[7/6 + (x + 6)/4]

Use the distributive property:

12x + 3  =  14 + 3(x + 6)

Simplify:

12x + 3  =  14 + 3x + 18

Simplify:

12x + 3  =  3x + 32

Subtract 3x from both sides:

9x + 3  =  32

Subtract 3 from both sides:

9x  =  29

Divide both sides by 3:

x = 29/9
