In a sale, normal prices are reduced by 12%
The sale price of a digital camera is £132.88
Work out the normal price of the digital camera
(Thaaaaaanks!!)
If something is reduced by 12%, it must only be worth 88% of what it once was.
So, let P be the original price.
And we have...
88% of P = 132.88 ....or, mathematically.......
.88 * P = 132.88 divide both sides by .88
P = £ 151
multiply 12x132.88 divide it 100 = 15.94
then just add 132.88 + 15.94 = 148.82 (original price)
