is 117<100 correct of being an obtuse

I think you mean whether you used the sign (<) correctly right? An obtuse is an angle greater than 90 (>90) but smaller than 180 (<180). The lesser/greater sign is used by having the tip point to the smaller number. For example 100 is smaller than 117 thus the tip should point at 100. 117 >100.
