A garden in the shape of a right triangle is bordered on one side by a brick wall, on another side by a wooden fence, and on the third side by grass.

What is the measure of the angle formed by the wooden fence and the grass?

Using the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the grass side:  c2  =  132 + 212     --->     c  =  24.698  (approx)

For the angle wanted, the adjacent side is the side with the wooden fence and the hypotenuse is the grass side.

Since  cos  =  adj / hyp     --->     cos(Angle)  =  wood / grass  =  21 / 24.698  =  0.8503

--->             Angle   =  cos-1 ( 0.8503 )  =  31.76o  (approx)
