pls help me ; find, to the nearest centimetres, the length of the shadow of a 4 metre flagpole when the elevation of the sun is 58°.
The shadow length will be the adjacent side of a right triangle and the height of the flagpole will be the side opposite the 58° angle.....so we have
tan 58° = 4 / S where S is the shadow length
Multiply both sides by S and divide both sides by tan 58°
S = 4 / tan 58° ≈ 2.499 m ≈ 249.9 cm ≈ 250 cm
