The bumper car ride at the state fair has 3 red cars, 3 green cars, and 4 blue cars. William is first in line for the ride and is assigned a car at random by the ride attendant. Devon is next in line and is randomly assigned a bumper car. What is the probability that both William & Devon will drive a red bumper car?

Thank You!

The probability that William gets a red car   =  3 red cars  / 12 total cars

The probability that Devon gets a red car  =  2 red cars / 11 total cars

So......the total probability  =

(3 / 12 ) ( 2 / 11 )  =

(1 / 4)  ( 2 / 11) =

2 / 44  =

1 / 22
