a point P on the surface of the earth is 1500miles north of the point on the equator closest to it. find the latitude of the point P in degree measurements . assume the radius of the earth 3960 miles. what is the possible answer?

I guess you need to use trigonometry.

I assume that 1500 mile north is the straight line distance, not the arc length.

Therefore Let theta degrees N is the latitude of point P

tan theta = 1500/3960

theta approx equal 21

The latitude of point P is \(21^{\circ}N\)
