or you can say.....

slope = \(\frac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}}\)

 

If you are given two points,    ( x₁ , y₁ )   and   ( x₂ , y₂ )

slope = \(\frac{y_1-y_2}{x_1-x_2}\)
