The Problem is:

$$\\x^2+2x+1=5\\$$

Which I then simplified to

$$\\x^2+2x-4=0\\$$

This problem has been giving me some real trouble. I can't find two numbers that multiply to -4 and add to 2.

I could really use some help. :)

This doesn't have nice integer solutions.

You can express  x2 + 2x + 1 = 5 as (x + 1)2 = 5

so x+1 = ±√5

so x = -1±√5

.
