Let the number of chaperones  = x.....then......the number of students  = 7x -13

So..the number of chaperones plus the number of students  = 107  ....or....

x + 7x - 13   = 107  add 13 to both sides

8x  = 120       divide both sides by 8

x = 15 = the number of chaperones ....so......the number of students must have been  107 - 15  =  92

cool cool cool
