The hour hand of a clock is 8 inches long. What is the distance traveled by the tip of the hour as it moves from 4 o'clock to 6 o'clock position?

I'm going to work in radians for this one.

From 4 o'clock to 6 o'clock is 2 hours

Full-circle = 2πc = 12 hours

Thus the hand rotates (2/12) * 2πc = 1/3πc

Radius = 8 inches

Length of arc traveled by hand = 1/3πc * 8 = 8.378 inches

I'm going to work in degrees:

pi(2*8) = 50.2654824574366918

(50.2654824574366918/12)*2 = 8.3775804095727819666
