The line with equation x + y = 0 coincides with the terminal side of an angle θ in standard position in Quadrant  II.

What is the value of tanθ?

x + y  =  0

y  =  -1x

Any point on this line in quadrant II will have the coordinates  (-a, a)....and this will be the terminal point on θ

So   tan θ =   a / -a  =   -1
