To work out the cost to pave an area does the area still have to be squared when multiplying with the cost per a meter square?

Just find the area and multiply by the cost per square meter....

Example  :

6m x 5m    at a cost of $3 per square meter....we have

6m x 5m  = 30m^2  x $3 per square  meter   =  $90
