what is the vertex of the quadratic function f(x)=6x^2+12x-18

We have the form

 

Ax^2 + Bx + C  =  6x^2 + 12x + ( - 18 )

 

The x coordinate of the vertex  =   -B / [ 2A]  =   -12 / [ 2 (6) ]  =  -12 / 12   = -1

 

And the y coordinate  =   6(-1)^2 + 12((-1)  + (-18)    =   6 - 12  - 18   =   -24

 

So....the vertex  is   ( -1, 24 )
