let      $$\theta=sin^{-1}(1/3)$$

$$cot\theta=\sqrt{8}=2\sqrt2$$

But $$sin\theta>0$$    so  theta could be in the 1st otr second quadrant so

$$cot\theta=\pm2\sqrt2$$

$$cot(sin^{-1}(1/3))=\pm2\sqrt2$$
