I am kinda confused about this question, because I keep messing up, so I kinda need help:

Find all values of such that \(t-1\) , \(t+1\)and 4 could be the lengths of the sides of a right triangle.

Thanks!!!smiley

t+1 is obviously larger than t-1

assuming t+1 hypotenuse

(t+1)^2 = (t-1)^2  + 4^2

      expand and solve for t

Now   t+1   might be less than 4

then

4^2  = (t+1)^2   + (t-1)^2       expand and solve for more values of 't'

Remenber to check the values ot  t+1   and t-1   to make sure they 'fit' the assumptions

Thanks! I got it now. I just checked over my work, and realized that I forgot to square the 4! Now, I got 4 and sqrt of 7! Thanks!
