\(\begin{array}{|rcll|} \hline \text{Least children} &=& 2+ \text{lcm}(9,12) \quad | \quad \text{Least common multiple}\ (lcm) \\ \text{Least children} &=& 2+ 36 \\ \mathbf{\text{Least children}} &=& \mathbf{38} \\ \hline \end{array} \)

thank you sm

Lemme make it more detailed. Because they have the same remainder, then it must be the lcm so the multiple is the same. lcm of 9,12=36, and because there is a remainder of 2 36+2=38
