37/12 = 3.1 (roughly)

260/59 = 4.4 (roughly)

 

4.4+3.1 = 7.5

 

7.5/2 = 3.75 <--- Answer

It asks for the average of the two averages

 

[37/12   +   260/59 ] /2  = 3.74 m/s ~   3.7 m/s   rounded

 

 

 

 

IF it really means the OVERALL average speed    (37+260)/(12+59) = 4.18 ~ 4.2 m/s    (but what it asks is is red above)
