A 60 foot by 20 foot garden is enclosed by a fence. To increase the area of the garden, while still using the same fence, its shape is changed to a square. By how many square feet does this enlarge the garden?

Hint:

Start by figuring out how long and wide the square will be :D

Hope this helped!

Attn: CalTheGreat,

You need to start building a reputation as someone who is actually able to answer questions.

When you have that reputation obscure hints might be considered as good responses.

I believe you can do this one so what don't you show us your ability.

Okay, Melody.....

Since the new shape has to have the greatest possible side lengths that add up to the perimeter, 160 ft...

The square's side lengths will be 40ft by 40ft

The area of the square would be1600 square feet.... let's see how much it enlarged.

1600-1200=400

It enlarged by 400 square feet.
