CD  =  BD - BC

CD  =  22 cm - 6 cm

CD  =  16 cm

 

area of triangle ABC  =  ( 1/2 )( base )( height )

42 cm2  =  ( 1/2 )( 6 cm )( AC )

42 cm2  =  ( 3 cm )( AC )

14 cm  =  AC

 

 

Triangle  ACD  is a right triangle and now we know the length of both legs.

 

tan( angle )  =  opposite / adjacent

tan( x )  =  14 cm / 16 cm

tan( x )  =  7 / 8

x  =  arctan( 7/8 )

x  ≈  41.186°
