The area of the rectangle is   width   *  height

The width  is  (x + 3)

The height is ( x + 2)

So....the area is    (x + 3) ( x + 2)  =9    simplify

x^2 + 5x  + 6  = 9      subtract 6 from both sides

x^2 + 5x  = 3

cool cool cool
