acceleration problem while taraveling along the highway a driver slows from 24 m/sec to 15 m/sec in 12 seconds. what is the driver's acceleration? (remember that a negative value indicates a slowing down or ''deceleration.''

If this represents constant or smooth acceleration, then:

             acceleration = (final velocity - beginning velocity) / time

                               a  =  ( 15 m/sec - 24 m/sec ) / 12 sec

                              a  =   (-9 m/sec)/12 sec  =  -0.75 m/sec²
