AGE PROBLEM! PLEASE HELP!

Jam is 2 years younger than Sam. 4 years ago, 1/4 the age of Sam was a third of Jam's age. How old is each boy now?

So I have working equations but the answer is fraction so I need help :)

Let x be the age of Jam

Let y be the age of Sam

1. x+2=y

2. y-12x=-44

Let Jam's age 4 years ago be J, then we have,

J+2=Sam's age 4 years ago. But we have:

1/4(J+2)=1/3J

1/4J+1/2=1/3J

1/3J - 1/4J=1/2

1/12J=1/2 multiply both sides by 12

J=6, Jam's age 4 years ago

6+2=8 Sam's age 4 years ago, So we have:

6+4=10 Jam's age today

8+4=12 Sam's age today.
