Pssh, child's play.

 

p + 12 = -2p

Subtract p from both sides

p - p + 12 = -2p - p

Simplify.

12 = -3p

Switch the negative to the other side.

-12 = 3p

Divide both sides by 3.

-12/3 = 3p/3

Solve

-4 = p
