I'd say the "ground" is concrete; it's level, not pot-holed, and is neatly kerbed! Looks like the bitumen has been layed over a base of concrete, to me.

I like your photos Rosala :)

Are those cars parked on dirt or on cement?

Why is the middle of the road made from a different material to the verge?

If the verge is dirt then I guess it is cost, but the edge of the tar would get damaged all the time and the road would need constant repairs.  Is that what happens?

Thanks Rosala, you have answered my question - the cars are just on dirt.

Photos tell people things that you do not think about because you just take it for granted :)

I think this is interesting because I would not see a road like that in Australia.

We have dirt roads or we have tared roads, we do not have roads that are half and half :)

Thanks Badinage, I thought it looked like concrete too ://

Rosala please go take a proper look and tell us if it is concrete or just hard dirt :)   !!

I wonder why they would tar the middle of the road and concrete the edges :/

Oh sorry I misread.  You think the concrete is under the bitumen too.  Yes that is what it looks like.

Would they do that to make the road less slippery?
