what is 2[3x-4]+8=6 the calculator doesn't seem to want to take it?

2[3x-4]+8=6   simplify

 

6x - 8  + 8 = 6  

 

6x  = 6     divide both sides by 6

 

x = 1

OK....we have

 

2l3x-4l+8=6   simplify    subtract 8 from both sides

 

2l3x - 4l = -2     divide both sides by 2

 

l3x - 4 l  = -1  

 

There is no solution for this because the absolute value can never = a negative [ this is probably why the calculator couldn't give you an answer ]
