hn works two jobs. He earns $10 an hour babysitting his neighbor's children and $15 an hour mowing lawns in his neighborhood. Last week he worked a total of 20 hours and earned a total of $240. Enter numbers in the boxes to create an equation which models this situation if x = the number of hours he spent babysitting and y = the number of hours he spent mowing lawns last week.

Hn gets 240 dollars, so let's make one side 240.

On the other hand (or in this problem, side laugh), he works for 15 dollars an hour lawnmowing and 10 babysitting. Let's make the other side 15x (for 15 dollars an hour babysitting) + 10y (for 10 dollars an hour lawnmowing).

We have 250 = 15x + 10y.

The number of hours Hn worked for is 20, which means x (no. of hours babysitting) + y (no. of hours lawnmowing) = 20.

Anyhow, the equation is 250=15x+10y
