A gardener has an area of 225 square feet. How much fencing will the gardener need to buy in order to place it around the garden?

I'm assuming that the garden is in the shape of a square [ if not, there might be infinite possibilities]

 

So  the area of a square is just the side squared   and we have

 

side2 = 225      take the square root of both sides

 

side = sqrt (225)  = 15 ft

 

So each side  is 15ft   and there are 4 of them....so we need 15 x 4  = 60 ft of fencing

If his garden is a perfect square(with all sides equal), then we just take the sq root of the total area of 225 sq.feet=15 feet, so the total length of fence needed would be 15 x 4=60 feet
