-3x + 4y= -8       we want to get y by itself  

 

add 3x to  both sides

 

4y  =  3x - 8      divide both sides by  4

 

y  =  (3/4)x - 2      this is the slope-intercept form

 

The slope is  (3/4)    and the y intercept is  -2
