Slope is the change in y divided by the change in x.

So, if the slope is 2 --->  this can be written as 2/1.

The denominator (1) shows the size of the step in the x-direction; each step is 1 unit (or 1 block) to the right.

The numerator (2) shows the size of the step in the y-direction; each step is 2 units (or 2 blocks) up.

Start with a dot at the point (-4, -2). From this point, move your pencil to the right 1 square and then up 2 squares. This is the point (-3, 0). Place a dot here.

Again, move your pencil to the right 1 square and then up 2 squares. This is the point (-2, 2). Place a dot here. 

Do this as often as you like and draw a straight lines through these points.
