You divide the numerator by the denominator. However, you can't divide by 0, use ∞, or other math breaking operations. In the case that you have to divide by 0, just say that there is no solution. It is also important that you simplify afterwards to make sure that the values aren't larger than they need to be. Simplest form is often required when you solve math problems in school. Just simply divide both the numerator and the denominator by their greatest common factor or divide them by common factors repeatedly until you cannot simplyfy anymore. When dealing with larger numbers that don't have factors from 1-10, be sure to divide them by higher prime numbers to be sure that you don't accidently miss a common factor. a calculator can also be used to check common factors by dividing it by the factor and seeing if it is a whole number.

Just use a calculator. Example: 3/8. Enter 3 first, then press / sign followed by 8 and then press the = sign. The calculator should give you .375. Try it.

you remove the fraction and replace it with 1.1 (unless you want to turn it into an equivelent decimal)
