y=x^2-x-2

The x coordinate of the vertex  =   -b / 2a        where b = -1   and  a   = 1     .....so....we have...

x = -b / 2a   = 1/ 2(1)   = 1/2

And the y coordinate  =

(1/2)^2 - (1/2) - 2  =    1/4 - 1.2 - 2  =  -1/4 - 2 =  -9/4

So.....the vertex =  ( 1/2, -9/4 )

cool cool cool
