We can multiply this out by multiplying each thing in the first set of parenthesees with each thing in the second set of parenthesees and adding these products together.

 

  (c + a)(b + c)

= cb + cc + ab + ac

= cb + c2 + ab + ac

= c2 + cb + ab + ac
